Marathons
Commit to running a marathon for Fight for Sight and you'll be taking on one of the ultimate endurance challenges as well as helping to raise more money for vital eye research. Marathons take place throughout the year in some of the world's most exciting cities - London, New York and Edinburgh are some examples.
London Marathon
17 supporters ran the 2009 Flora London Marathon for Fight for Sight helping to raise more than £34,000 for eye research.
The online public ballot application process for the 2010 Flora London Marathon is now closed but if you are fortunate enough to get your own place we would be delighted if you ran for Fight for Sight. Please get in touch with us once your place has been confirmed and we will send you our runner's pack.

Other running challenges
There are hundreds of running events organised around the country each year, with distances from 5kms to full Marathons. By nominating Fight for Sight as your charity you will be helping to raise more money for vital eye research.
Fight for Sight has guaranteed places available in some of the most popular running events such as the ASICS British 10K, and two half marathons: Run to the Beat and the Royal Parks. See below for more details.
The 2010 Asics British 10K will take place on Sunday 11 July 2010. This is a fantastic 10K run through the heart of London past famous historic and iconic landmarks. Starting along bustling Piccadilly and finishing along majestic Whitehall. You'll pass famous landmarks including St Paul's cathedral and the London Eye. This is a great road run and if the amazing views don't spur you on then the great atmosphere will!

The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 10 October 2010 starting and finishing in Hyde Park. Athletes will run through Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park, St James's Park and along the River Thames taking in superb views of Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Marble Arch, the London Eye and the Royal Albert Hall.

These 5km races in London, Birmingham and Liverpool are open to women of all ages and all fitness levels. Why not ask a group of your female friends to take part? Your sisters, daughters, nieces or anyone – just as long as they are female, they can take part!

Triathlon
The Mazda London Triathlon is the world's largest triathlon event and takes place over the weekend of 7-8 August 2010.
Don’t be afraid to take on the challenge, over 50% of people taking part in the London Triathlon each year are new to the sport. Swim, bike and run, there are a number of different options available for participation up to individual Olympic standard.

Sponsored walks and fun runs
If you are looking for a more gentle fitness challenge than a running event then you could take part in a sponsored walk or fun run for Fight for Sight. Not only would you be getting fit but you would also be helping to raise more money for vital eye research.
There are hundreds of sponsored walks and fun runs taking place around the country most months of the year to suit every age and ability. Please visit your local council website to find out what is happening in your area. Simply nominate Fight for Sight as your charity and let our events team know.
