Mission

Fight for Sight is a UK based charity whose mission is to fund world-class research into the prevention and treatment of blindness and eye disease.

Overview

In order to deliver the charity’s mission, Fight for Sight funds research ranging from basic laboratory research looking at how the eye develops and functions, to progression of diseases through to applied and clinical research.

Fight for Sight provides a range of funding opportunities each year and funding is allocated to research teams based in the UK and attached to recognised academic or medical institutions. The research may be undertaken in the UK or overseas.

Fight for Sight is keen to ensure that research results are widely disseminated and will lead to clinical benefit.

Research Funding Decisions

In order to ensure that the research that is funded is of the highest quality, Fight for Sight has established an extensive process of independent peer review. Fight for Sight is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and the charity’s peer review process complies with AMRC guidelines for best practice.
