Triathlon challenge for research team

06 August 2010

The Futter Lab

James Edgar, Silene Wavre and Emily Eden from the Futter Lab at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology will run, swim and cycle in aid of Fight of Sight in the Mazda London Triathlon on 7 and 8 August.

James said: "We are taking part in the Triathlon to raise funds for Fight for Sight which has close links with the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, where we all work. Fight for Sight funds many research projects and pieces of equipment at the Institute and we would like to give something back. The UCL Institute of Opthalmology has been responsible for a number of breakthroughs in both treatment and diagnosis of eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.

"We would like to thank all those that have sponsored us and we are looking forward to the event (fingers crossed for nice weather!). We are not expecting to win the race or break any records but enjoy the day and raise some awareness for a great charity."

Good luck to all the triathletes - the Futter Lab, Mark Walden, Andrew Carter, James Dell, Demian Smith and Neil Walker - who are taking part on behalf of Fight for Sight.
