Summer Roses, Tea, Cakes and Wine

On Sunday 24th June, Jane and Jeff Thomas, and Joanna Jamieson are opening their beautiful gardens in Burnham Market between 2pm - 7pm. The Old Rectory was built in 1808 and has about 1.5 acres of midsummer roses, shrub borders, shady walks and ponds to enjoy. The 'secret' garden next door at St Andrews House is a beautiful mediaeval walled garden bursting with summer flowers and scents. Creake Plant Centre, famous for rare and unusual plants, will provide a plant stall. Tea, home made cakes and rose wine will be available. There is easy access for wheelchairs, with street parking just outside the front gate. Dogs are welcome on leads. £3 entry (children £1.50) - all proceeds to Fight for Sight and Heritage House Day Centre in Wells. Please call Jane on 07963 656851. The Old Rectory, Overy Road, Burnham Market PE31 8HH.

Other events for 2012

Jane will also be running a stall at the Wells Hospital Mega Boot Fair on Sunday 27th May selling lots of lovely accessories, all donated locally. The Mega Boot Fair will be in the grounds of the Hospital between 10am till 2pm so do come along and support Fight for Sight and Wells Hospital. In February, over £2,500 was raised for Fight for Sight and Wells Hopsiptal at a Mad Hatters and fashion accessories Sale, so this is your last chance to pick up a bargain!

We want to hear from you with ideas!

Please do contribute ideas to Jane Ridley for events that you and your friends would enjoy supporting with a "Fight for Sight” theme, or if you would like to organise an event of your own in your area. Special celebrations, such as anniversary parties or even weddings where guests are invited to help Fight for Sight, rather than bring presents are especially popular nowadays - people are so kind and willing to help others in these very difficult times.

Fight for Sight would be happy to provide a speaker to attend your event and talk about their work - all of which is fascinating and provides valuable information for people getting older about how to cope with sight issues. So perhaps your luncheon, Rotary, WI or Probus Club locally would like to know about us.

Getting our name out there!

We are always looking for ways to widen our base of supporters in Norfolk so if you know anyone who might be interested to learn about what Fight for Sight does then come and join our Norfolk Supporters Group and please tell them about us. Julian Jackson at Fight for Sight would be delighted to come and meet groups, and can send leaflets and newsletters to you if you plan an event. Alternatively, please contact us if you wish to be on our mailing list for future events.

Norwich Group

Rosemary Rushbrook runs another Supporter Group in the area. The next fundraising event taking place is a Jubilee Lunch being held on 30 May 2012 in Sprowston, near Norwich. 60 guests will enjoy a wine reception followed by a 2 course lunch, after which there will be a Quiz with a Royal theme, a floral demonstration and other entertainment. Tickets for this event have now been sold.

Rosemary organises a range of other events throughout the year. Plans for the rest of 2012 include a coffee morning, a dinner party and a Quiz evening. Watch this space for further details and dates!
