Fight for Sight New Lecturers Small Grant Awards

Fight for Sight is pleased to announce that applications are now open for small grant awards of up to £20,000 for newly appointed lecturers at Higher Education Institutions in the UK to help them develop innovative research projects in the early stages of their independent research careers.

These awards are open to both newly appointed clinical and non-clinical lecturers researching in the field of ophthalmology and vision science.  Eligible applicants must; a) have been appointed to their first lectureship within the 24 months prior to the closing date for applications and b) not have received competitive research funding exceeding £20,000 from any source since their appointment. NIHR clinical lecturers are eligible to apply.

The awards are designed specifically for new investigators who have a preliminary concept they would like to develop into a research project. The maximum duration of research is one year. These awards do not require pilot data but they should be able to generate preliminary data that would further strengthen their applications for longer-term funding. The awards will be used to contribute to directly incurred costs such as consumables and/or equipment.
